Under 14 Rugby - Match Report |
Under 14 v RBAI Final Score - 0 - 66 The first half began like it begins most weeks, with poor tackling and sloppy play. Soft tackling was the cause of the first few tries. Although our line outs had improved from the previous weeks and a new start to fullback Peter Ferguson saved a few tries although he was often isolated and had to deal with more than one player at once. Also late in the half Flanker, Matt Daily injured his knee and was forced to come off which did not help our morale. Six tries down at half time nothing seemed to be going our way. The second half began much the same as the first. Poor passing, communication and tackling led to the first try. We managed to exert pressure on Inst’s try line put it was soon lifted and almost immediately another try was let in. Caption Scott Barr made a great try saving tackle on the line and the ball was won by our forwards. The ball was immediately cleared. Further poor tackling led to a further two trys . The game finished at 0 - 63. This was a poor match for us with very few encouragements. However, it was good to play against such a strong side and we saw that we could compete against them much more successfully with much better discipline. Match Report by Peter Ferguson |
