Under 13A XV Rugby v Foyle College - Match Report |
On a rainy Saturday morning at Rashee Road, Ballyclare played against Foyle College. The kickoff was at 10.45. It was a pretty messy first half, but we came off with two tries from Jay Hunter. The ground was slippery and studs just wouldn’t stay in the ground for scrum time, and the backs couldn’t get a grip of the ball. Walking over to the coaches feeling that we hadn’t played the best we could, we knew we were in for it. Mr Young gave us some expert advice and we were ready for the second half. This was to prove a far better half for us as we came back into it. The backs were starting to get together and show some real class ball skills, but just not having the finishing skills. Then from a nice pressured lineout Jordan Mckinstry dived on the ball and scored. After that the forwards got really fired up and started stealing and clearing the ball incredibly well. Then from a nice worked move from the backs and quick ruck ball Paddy Reid slipped the ball and Dave Lawther went over the line. Soon after, Foyle stole the ball and scored a length of the pitch run. We had really wanted to keep it to nil but we failed. After another few good phases of play the ball was annoyingly dropped. Then from the base of their scrum Jack Irvine disrupted the ball stepped and twirled and scored. The game was over. We scored five tries overall and Jack Irvine had a good game with the boot getting three kicks out of five, which was great considering they were hard kicks. Final score was 31 - 7, now a three game winning streak now BHS under 13A’s. Who’s next? |
