Medallion A XV v Limavady - Match Report |
The match started with some promising play from BHS’s forwards rolling the ball up the pitch. Limavady defended well and came onto the offensive and worked their way up the pitch closely missing to opportunities at the post. Ballyclare came back well and with good back and forward play, to score through an inspiring drive from No. 2 Conor Shearer, which was converted by Simon Beattie. From the kick-off Ballyclare brought the ball straight up to Limavady’s line through a penalty and Simon Beattie's intelligent kicking. Limavady however again defended well and cleared the ball down the park. Limavady had a line-out on BHS’s 5m line but a steal from Grant Bartley gave us possession and Simon Beattie was able to make touch. Ballyclare made their way back up the pitch and from a scum on the 10m a rampaging drive form No.8 Peter McMeekin ended up in another try in the first half. Up to the end of the half BHS played well and 2 tries were held up on Limavady’s line. The second half began with a good restart and good pressure from the forwards; Limavady sliced the clearance and gifted BHS a lineout, unfortunately a knock on gave Limavady a chance to clear there line. At this point BHS brought on some subs and the game resumed. BHS’s backs performed well with a good move which was almost a try but instead our fullback went off with a knee injury. From their own line Limavady made a good clearance to touch. Some good forward mauling brought BHS to the Limavady try line and seconds later in the corner Peter McMeeken crashed over to get his second try of the game. After the try the play got scrappy for a while but then the ref blew the whistle and the match ended with a convincing win of 17-0 to BHS Best Back- Simon Beattie Best Forward-Peter McMeechen |
