An outstanding weekend of performances form Ballyclare High pupils and in particular from the: Intermediate Girls’ Team. They have won the Ulster title at their age group and the list of achievements on the day was remarkable: Hannah Todd was 1st I the 100ms and 1st in the Triple Jump setting a new record in the process. Joanna Mills was 1st in the Long Jump and 1st in the 300ms setting a new record. Jodie Robinson was 1st in the High Jump and 2nd in the 200ms Vanessa Surgeoner was 3rd in the Discus Jenny McBrien was 5th in the 3000ms Rachel Campbell was 5th in the 1500ms Alison Crothers was 5th in the Discus Jane Kennedy was 10 th in the 800ms The relay this team were phenomenal taking one second of the record in the Heats and breaking the record yet again in the final. They won the Ulster title with double the points of any other age group which itself was history in the making. Other excellent results Yasmin Wilson was 3rd in the 800ms Emma Wilson was 5th in the 800ms Michael Whincup was 6th in the Long Jump N Surgeoner was 7th in the Shot In the Junior Competition Laura Douglas was th in the 1500ms Sarah Shannon was th in the 1500ms Grant Bartley was 4th in the Shot Johnny Douglas was 3rd in the Discus. The Junior Boys Relay Team qualified for the Final in which they gave their best performance to date and in a blanket finish of 4 teams they were placed 7 th but they had taking a full second off their time. In the Intermediate Boy’ Competition Peter McMechan did the ‘double again’ he was second in the Discus throwing better than he has ever done and followed this up with a 3 rd in the shot. In the Senior Competition Rory Henderson was 8th in the Hammer and 7th in the Discus Chris Gillen was 8th in the High Jump Ryan Tweed was 7th in the Javelin Rebekah Mills was 6th and 8th respectively in the Triple Jump and the Long Jump Lisa McCourt was 5th in the Discus The total number of qualifiers for the All Ireland 7 individuals in 11 events & the Intermediate Relay Team |
