Congratulations to Andrew Gault - who wont the Ulster Motorcycle Trials Championship and went on to win the Irish Motorcycle Campionships. Andrew has excelled in his sport and hopes to compete in the World Round in Bangor next year. In early May, Andrew was presented with the Davy McBride Memorial Cup for the best Youth Trialist rider in Ireland.

Congratulations to the Boys' Senior Badminton who won Senior Boys' Division 1 All Ireland Badminton Title on Wednesday 12 March 2008. The Senior B Team finished with a Silver Medal only losing one game to the Leinster Champions, Terenure.

The Junior Girls XC Squad were crowned All-Ireland Champions in Galway on Saturday!This is the first time that the school has won Gold in Cross-Country at an all-Ireland level.
Congratulations to the team of Laura Douglas, Lucy Camlin, Sarah Shannon and Emma Wilson (year 8).
Well done also to the Intermediate Team who won the Ulster finals and went on to finish fourth on Saturday. The team consisted of Jenni McBrien, Rachel Campbell (year 12), Jane Kennedy, Rachel Campbell (year 11) and Orla Carmichael: Report to follow! |

| Congratulations to the First XV Rugby on an outstanding performance in the Northern Bank Schools' Cup semi-final at Ravenhill. After a very tense first half when the teams were tied 5 - 5 at half time, Ballyclare took a narrow lead when Robert Smith dropped a goal, having previously scored an excellent unconverted try. However, after a brief spell in the lead, Regent scored a good try to put the pressure back on Ballyclare. In seeking to make up the deficit, Ballyclare let in a try towards the end of an excellent match. The final score was Ballyclare 7 and Regent 18. This is our first semi-final appearance for thirty five years and hopefully we will not have to wait as long for the next one. We wish Regent well as they take on Methody in the final on St. Patrick's Day at Ravenhill. |
| Congratulations to the First XI Girls' Hockey team who had a thrilling victory over Friends School in the Final of the Bank of Ireland Senior Schools' Shield. The final score was Ballyclare 3 Friends 2. The goal scorers were Rebecca Smith 2 and Lauren Mawhinney 1. This is the first time the school has won this prestigious competition and the Coaches, Mrs A. McCullough and Dr M. Rainey are to be congratuled on their coaching for this developing team. Congratulations to the First XV Rugby team who had an excellent victory over Omagh Academy on Saturday 23 February. In a closely fought game when each team on occasions dominated play, Ballyclare playing at home won by 17 - 5. This is the first time the school has reached the semi-final of the Northern Bank Schools' Cup for many years. The team are to be congratulated along with their New Zealand born coach D. Soper and G. Shaw.
They now face Regent House in the semi-final at Ravenhill on Thursday 6 March. The school will finish early to ensure the supporters can make to Ravenhill in good time.

We have just received the best wishes of Drew Armstrong (Australia) who was the Rugby Coach in 1973 when the school went on to win the Schools' Cup. Nice to have an international interest in the progress of the First XV. |

We wish them luck as they take on a strong Rainey Endowed School on Saturday 9 February. The match is away and kicks off at 11.00. All supporters will be most welcome. Congratulations to Richard Lutton (past pupil) who has been selected for the Oxford University Varsity team who play against Cambridge University on Thursday 6 December. This is one of the most important matches in the Rugby Calendar and it is the first time a pupil of the school has been awarded his Blue for rugby. Well done Richard!
We have to look back to 1988 for our only other blue, when Keith O'Hara was awarded an Athletics Blue by Cambridge University. Richard follows very proudly in the footsteps of Keith. |
