Cup victory against Grosvenor Grammar School Ballyclare High v Grosvenor Third Round School’s Cup Playing at home Grosvenor started the game well. They played for territory with their out half keeping Ballyclare pinned down in their own half through the use of his boot. However Ballyclare defended well and Grosvenor had difficulty penetrating and profiting from their positional play. Ballyclare’s forays into the Grosvenor half were rewarded with Jackson kicking a penalty. He got on the score sheet shortly later, peeling away from a maul to run in unopposed, and then kicking the conversion. Grosvenor also gained some points before the break with a successful penalty kick. Half time score was Grosvenor 3: 10 Ballyclare. Ballyclare dominated the second half with Ryan Wilson making good ground in the backs. His substantial run lead to Logan being in position to power over the line. Grosvenor continued to kick, but were giving away possession to little advantage. McCullough killed the game off when he scored after Ballyclare showed good continuity passing out of the tackle several times. Jackson kicked both conversions making the final score 24-3. Ballyclare travel to Dungannon in the next round. |
